We successfully completed our first group in June 2023 and are collaborating with partners within Lancashire Children's Social Care to prepare to work with our second group of young people.
This Project is an exciting opportunity for young people from Lancashire to gain confidence and practice in the skills to manage their first home. It will enable them to leave care with a mindset to make constructive decisions about their lives. A key part of our project will be building valuable peer support networks between the young people. Sharing experience with other young people who are experiencing independence for the first time helps them to learn, be included and link in with support from professionals and carers. This will allow them to learn more about themselves, where good sources of advice can be found and allow them to make decisions for themselves.
The staff from Lancashire House Project will work with the young person, their Social Worker, Personal Advisor and other people involved with Pathway Planning. This joint approach will make thorough and positive plans for the young person's future.
We are excited that our first cohort will join our adventure in the very near future.
The House Project Lancashire is a fantastic opportunity for young care leavers, it offers more support with independent living skills and when they eventually move into their own properties. The community aspect is integral and much needed for young people living on their own for the first time.
